UEM World Berhad (“UEM World”) is Malaysia's
leading infrastructure development conglomerate.
A subsidiary of UEM Group Berhad, UEM World
was incorporated on 11 March 2003 and made its
debut on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia on
14 November 2003.
UEM World brings together more than 20 major
operating companies, including four public-listed
companies, under its corporate umbrella. As a
Group, its shareholders' funds stand in excess of
RM2.2 billion as at 31 December 2007. UEM World
counts among its greatest assets, its workforce who
collectively make up one of the largest pool of
specialists and knowledge workers in the country.
Another of UEM World's key strengths lies in
its balanced and diversified portfolio of activities
spanning a cross section of the Malaysian
economy: engineering & construction, healthcare,
environmental services, property, manufacturing
and logistics.
The engineering & construction division, helmed
by UEM Builders Berhad and Opus Group Berhad
[formerly known as Opus International Group
Berhad and Opus International Sdn Bhd and CAETech
Sdn Bhd], has an impressive portfolio that
includes world-class infrastructure projects in
Malaysia and abroad. This Division also derives
synergistic benefits from the manufacturing and
logistics section via Cement Industries of Malaysia
Berhad and Gapima Sdn Bhd respectively.
UEM World's involvement in the environmental
services industry is represented by UEM Environment
Sdn Bhd. Through Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd, a whollyowned
subsidiary of UEM Environment Sdn Bhd,
the Group owns and operates one of the most
comprehensive scheduled waste management
facilities in the region.
The Group's interest in the burgeoning healthcare
business is vested in Pharmaniaga Berhad. As the
largest integrated healthcare provider in Malaysia,
its scope of activities range from the development
of leading-edge healthcare facilities to the supply
of an extensive range of pharmaceutical products
and services to hospitals and healthcare centres
throughout the country.
UEM World's subsidiary, UEM Land Berhad, is the
master developer of Nusajaya, conceived as the
nation's foremost city for business, living and
leisure. Nusajaya is being developed on
approximately 24,000 acres of land within the
Iskandar Development Region, which has been
renamed Iskandar Malaysia, in South Johor.
Iskandar Malaysia has been earmarked as one of
the growth corridors under the Ninth Malaysia
Plan. The development of Nusajaya offers
significant investment opportunities for
international entrepreneurs and investors.
UEM World is also expanding its presence in the
international arena to ensure sustained growth in
the years ahead. Today, the Group has established
its presence in more than 20 countries, including
the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, India,
China, Canada, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Middle
